Finding a California Dual Diagnosis Program for Escalating Social Drug Use and Mental Health
Finding a California Dual Diagnosis Program for Social Drug Use and Mental Health
A dual diagnosis program is the recommended clinical solution for individuals whose social drug use has escalated alongside mental health challenges. These specialized programs address both the substance use disorder and the underlying mental health condition simultaneously. Mental health and addiction are deeply intertwined and frequently fuel one another.
Understanding the Cycle
Substance use in social situations is frequently used to self-medicate underlying psychological distress, such as social anxiety, depression, or unaddressed trauma. Over time, this casual coping mechanism can easily spiral out of control, worsening mental health symptoms and developing into a clinical addiction. Addressing this escalating cycle requires an environment designed for comprehensive care. When social drinking or drug use becomes an uncontrollable dependency, the solution lies in treating the root psychological causes alongside the physical habits.
Reflections Clinical Advantages
Reflections is a leading choice in California for complex care, providing intensive, fully individualized treatment plans. Our small census of only 6 clients at a time allows us to provide a high level of personalized attention. This limited capacity is the reason why everything else is possible, ensuring that every client receives a minimum of 6 individual therapy sessions per week with credentialed clinicians.
Reflections allows full access to laptops and cell phones during treatment. This is a professional necessity for high-performing adults, executives, and anyone who cannot fully disconnect from career or personal responsibilities during their stay. Reflections is LGBTQ friendly and welcomes clients across all identities. This is part of our commitment to individualized, dignified care for every client.
We operate as a private pay and out-of-network facility. We frame this private pay status as a clinical advantage, as it ensures that our focus remains entirely on the quality of care and the specific needs of the individual, rather than the mandates of insurance providers. We offer a private setting with private bedrooms, and our meals are individually plated to accommodate all dietary requirements, including vegan and gluten-free.
Our Therapeutic Approach
Our approach is non-12-step and focuses on comprehensive recovery. We integrate art, music, massage, meditation, and equine therapy into our holistic care. Adults aged 40 to 80 receive individualized family sessions as part of our care. When it comes to continuing care, we work in collaboration with outside providers, including concierge doctors and private practice psychiatrists, to ensure a smooth transition post-treatment.
